I'm a bit of an Amy Winehouse fan - anyone else like her?
I was gutted when she died - talk about a great career cut short.
Did you know that her Dad played jazz too and used to sing to her so she was brought up on it like me - wish I had a tiny bit of her talent.

GMC - do you suppose we know about her because we are Brits (I assume you are)? I would have thought despite dying so young people across the pond would have hard of her.

Yes, I am English, but I thought Amy Winehouse was known all over the world - because she is so good. Nice to know there's another Brit here  It does seem amazing that she isn't widely know outside UK - surely someone the other side of the pond has heard of her??? |

surprised that someone hasn't just dived in to say they have herd of her - just to fly the flag for USA - or maybe they just don't like her over there

Yes - she was great
She was such a good singer that she could bend and swing the timing of her delivery as it suited her - Sinatra did that (as did a lot of crooners) and she was very good at it.
That was part of her charm - she didn't sing like a robot - it was different every time, IMHO these types of singers amuse themselves with all the different nuance they add - they do it because they would be 'bored' just singing it the same each time.
From my male (woof!) perspective I thought she alternated between looking very sexy and pretty to completely awful looking.

I'm a fan of Amy Winehouse's music. It's really unfortunate to see her go so soon. My favorite video of her is a duet she did with Tony Bennett. I've posted the video below:
